As one of 344 million or more people calling America home, legal or not, all have something to say at some moment. That few get to have their words accepted is a known fact. We all have our wants and needs, but what is wanted is rarely needed as perceived.
We all live by a policy. “Office hours 9-12” and others like it, which set a rhythm to our lives that lives by rhythms. We cannot have too much of one thing at the detriment to the other. We all look for what many call a ‘’sweet spot” where things seem to work without much concern.
We rarely think of what makes the sweet spot or a life that seems to run automatically. That some give more and others get less to give us what we enjoy is never of any concern. We go along until things change and then we respond all out of ignorance, not understanding the conditions under which we operate. Our verbal response is one like when the lights “go out.”
We raise our voice to demand “who turned the lights off,” never thinking that other actions might be at play.
We operate on a minimum of information, something once common and one that should have disappeared long ago save for indifference being something more suited to an idle life. Any question you might have will take you to an answer allowing for more contemplation or action should you pick up your cell phone and ask Google or any iteration thereof. All are run on an AI program.
Chester A Riley’s famous “My head’s made up don’t confuse me with facts,” is still alive and well where we want what we want when we want it.
We deserve what we get as we chase everything that is bad for us and when given is never perceived as enough. We pay for everything done and undone, with nothing exempt.
We are where we find ourselves through our own indifference and failure to understand that nothing is easy if it is to be done at a high level. Nothing.
Now we are adrift on a sea of our own ignorance, failing to understand first principles.
First principles do not provide a checklist of things that will always be true; our understanding of first principles evolves as we gain more knowledge. They are the foundation on which we must build and thus will be different in every situation, but the more we know, the more we can challenge ourselves.
We want something, and as we cannot shy away from life, each thing we do must mean something to us even if it is a door to something else.
By failing the first principles, all things that follow rely on spurious or questionable evidence and, as such, are not to be trusted. We have, over time, been given many laws that do not do that for which they were intended or worse, cause harm.
Many laws promoted – by professionals, men of experience, promoters and the like – were passed only to be seen as unworkable or dangerous.
We have seen the government, those to whom we have given our consent to be governed by, rise and demand we do their bidding without complaint.
Run by parties, our preferences could not, at this point, be further apart and by this division, has created, on both sides, cadres of adherents from the apathetic to the most loyal. Each comes with their belief in the way the country should be run without exception. Each factor of life is reduced to its political component and its champion.
Prices at whatever level of support are always too high and as the economy brings more things “we cannot do without” strains the budget, the voices get louder, until the media makes everything existential.
The government has made laws upon laws until a loaf of bread has 104 taxes and a book of laws determining what goes into it and what comes out, along with the packaging. Multiplying all this by millions and nothing we do is done by us or paid by us that does not pass muster with the government.
Now there is nothing left to hide either in or out of the government. The left wants to take what’s not controlled by the government, make it its own controlling all means of production.
Those pretending to care have no idea of what they care about. It is the blind leading the blind.
