It has been reported that a candidate running for a CC Commissioner’s position is promoting “attainable” housing. This play on words, if true, is just another attempt to sell the idea of “affordable” housing.
Housing has always been an “affordability” problem as we have a demand that always exceeds supply. Since we have no idea of the theory behind “attainable” I look at this as no more than another scheme to induce “public housing “ as an end in Florida.
Home ownership, a high goal, will always deny some the opportunity to be part of that group. We are awash in government plans to “solve” the idea of putting 10lbs. In a 5 lab. bag. Money must always be put to its highest use which seems to elude those who spend our hard earned tax dollar.
The problem with selective candidates eligible for such housing is that it takes the public and divides the “eligible” from the “ineligible.” We do have many city providing housing subsidies for the poor, the old, the sick and the disabled. The “government” continues to select those it deems worthy. The programs are rife with abuse.
Florida cannot allow anything like this to become part of our “government” at any level. While it might sound like I want to deny “Charity” as part of what we do, however I have seen Charity eventually turning into an industry.
