Keeping the Pressure on Boca Grande Parking Issue

At the October We the People Club meeting, we briefly discussed the issue regarding parking restriction on Boca Grande. Many Charlotte County residents are very upset about the restrictions and have expressed extreme dissatisfaction with what many call “a ridiculous short parking time” and that “The beaches are public beaches. If they restrict our access to our beaches, let’s restrict their access to public water. They can get it from Lee County” (these are statements made by some Charlotte County residents and not statements made by anyone working on this website).

Subsequently, an email was sent to the Charlotte County commissioners on October 18, 2025 calling for action to be taken to lift the restrictions. On November 3, 2025, Commissioner Joseph Tiseo and the office of Commissioner Bill Truex of Charlotte County responded:

From Tiseo (11/3/2025): “Our Board set a letter to Lee county prior to their vote asking them not to pass the ordinance.

After their vote our Board sent a resolution asking them to reconsider and we copied the governor and the state legislature.

The Board added this to agenda last week for further action which included discussion about  State required mediation or possible injunction.  The item was R3 on the agenda.  I have copied the link to you can hear the latest discussion.

All of the actions I have outlined above where done publicly and/or covered by the newspaper.

Regards

Joe Tiseo”

Additionally, as of this afternoon, Commissioner Bill Truex’s office also responded with the same link where you can view the discusseion.

Please go to the link that they provided and click on #3 Boca Grande Parking to view the discussion in full and the actions that our Charlotte County commissioners are taking to resolve the issue pertaining to the Boca Grande Parking matter.

The commissioners passed R3 on the agenda unanimously. In summary, our commissioners in Charlotte County are pushing back on the restrictions, as many Charlotte County residents have call on them to do. They are working on the issue and following procedures. Per Commissioner Truex’ office, “Charlotte County is proceeding in accordance with the Governmental Conflict Resolution Act (Florida Statute, Chapter 164)”.

Thank you to Commissioner Tiseo and Commissioner Truex for an update on the matter and the link.

We the People Club invite the commissioner to visit and/or speak at our club meetings on this and other matters. Just send a request to [email protected]

The November Meeting Announcement has the address for today’s meeting on it, if you have any questions.

No statements have been received from the other commissioners regarding this matter.
